Terms of Service

1. The agreement

These terms are an agreement between you and Budget Forecast (budgetforecast.ca), operated from Ontario, Canada. By using the site or the planner you accept these terms and the Privacy Policy. If you don’t accept them, don’t use the service.

2. What Budget Forecast is, and what it isn’t

Budget Forecast is a planning tool. It turns your list of things that wear out into an estimated monthly savings target, using typical cost ranges and the timelines you enter.

Every number it shows is an estimate. Costs are based on typical market ranges and your own inputs. They are not quotes, and nothing in the service is financial, investment, legal, tax, or professional advice. Before spending real money, get real quotes from qualified contractors or suppliers. Decisions you make based on the service are your own.

3. Your account

You don’t need an account to use the planner. If you create one, keep your password to yourself, give us accurate details, and let us know if you think someone else has access to it. You’re responsible for what happens under your account. You should be at least 13 years old to create one.

4. Free, Pro, and the trial

• Free plan. One budget, with every planning tool, chart, and export, free for as long as you like.
• Pro. Pro adds unlimited budgets, the Household view, custom budget types, and a larger monthly AI allowance. Pro costs $4.99 CAD per month, or $39 CAD per year.
• The trial. Signed-in users can start one 7-day Pro trial per account. It needs no credit card, ends on its own, and never converts into a charge.
• Paying for Pro. Pro is a subscription. It’s charged at the start of each billing period and renews automatically — monthly plans each month, annual plans each year — until you cancel. Payments are processed by Stripe; your card details go to Stripe, not to us. Prices are in Canadian dollars, and we may change them with notice to existing subscribers before a change affects them.
• Cancelling. Cancel any time from Manage subscription in the app, which opens your Stripe billing page. Cancelling stops the renewal: Pro stays active until the end of the period you’ve paid for, then your account moves to the free plan. There’s no cancellation fee.
• Failed payments. If a renewal payment fails, Stripe retries it and emails you so you can update your card. You keep Pro during the retries; if the payment can’t be collected, the subscription ends and your account moves to the free plan.
• Refunds. Subscription fees are generally non-refundable — cancelling simply lets the paid period run out. That said, if something went wrong (a double charge, a charge right after you meant to cancel, a service problem), email [email protected] and we’ll sort it out; refunds we issue are at our discretion and go back to your original payment method.
• Downgrading. If a trial ends or a subscription stops, nothing you built is deleted. Extra budgets are kept read-only, you keep one editable budget, and everything unlocks again if you subscribe.

5. The AI features

The AI tools draft suggestions from your descriptions. Drafts can be wrong, incomplete, or oddly priced, which is why the app always shows you a review step before anything is added to your plan. Treat AI output as a starting point, not a fact. AI actions are limited per month by plan, and the limits are shown in the app and on the pricing page.

6. Your data is yours

You own the budget data you create. You give us permission to store and process it for one purpose: running the service for you (saving, syncing, and displaying your plan). We don’t sell it, and you can export it as CSV or JSON from the app at any time. Deleting your account deletes it from our side, as described in the Privacy Policy.

7. Acceptable use

Don’t break into the service, probe it for vulnerabilities, scrape it at scale, resell it, flood the AI endpoints, or use it for anything unlawful. Don’t interfere with other people’s use of it. If something looks like abuse, we may suspend the account involved.

8. Availability and changes

The service is provided as is. We work to keep it fast and available, but it can go down, and features can change or be replaced as the product evolves. Keep your own export if your plan matters to you; the app makes that a one-click job.

9. Limits of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows: we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for financial decisions made from estimates the service produced. Our total liability for any claim is capped at the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, which for free users is zero. Nothing in these terms limits liability that the law doesn’t let us limit.

10. Ending things

You can stop using the service or delete your account at any time. We can suspend or close accounts that break these terms, and where it’s reasonable to do so we’ll warn you first. Sections that by their nature should survive (your ownership of your data, the liability limits, governing law) survive the account ending.

11. Changes to these terms

When these terms change, the date at the top changes with it, and meaningful changes will be announced on the site. Using the service after a change takes effect means you accept the updated terms.

12. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada that apply there, and disputes belong to the courts of Ontario.
